Laura talks with psychiatrist Dr. Ashley Covington who practices with a holistic and integrated approach, including using ketamine assisted psychotherapy. During a time when so many people around the world are understandably struggling, Dr. Covington and Laura remind us that we’re in good company and that there is an abundance of strategies for tending to oneself and each other.

About Dr. Covington

Dr. Covington grew up in rural Pennsylvania in a mixed race family with strong values of education and experiential learning, laying the foundation for balancing scientific knowledge with open-minded learning of holistic approaches. During medical school, she researched associations between sleep and suicide in adolescents and young adults and completed her Psychiatry residency at UCLA where she was chief resident. She is double board certified in Psychiatry and Integrative Medicine and has a Holistic Psychiatry practice in Los Angeles where she incorporates ketamine assisted psychotherapy. She completed psychedelic assisted psychotherapy training through PRATI in 2021, and is currently completing an additional certification to become a MAPS MDMA psychotherapist. She continues to be a volunteer faculty member at UCLA, teaching residents, and is involved in DEI initiatives within the psychiatry department.
